OSA is a well recognised problem with many adverse effects on health related quality of life amongst the medical fraternity. However, awareness amongst the people is far from the desired level.it can be easily recognised by the family members with snoring, leg movements during sleep, day time sleepiness, poor concentration ability and irritability. Unless addressed, it can cause or aggravate some of the common chronic comorbid conditions. Sutap with his team is running an organisation which takes care of the sleep assessment by polysomnography. I was recently diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) about which I knew very little. Since I am not so young anymore, it caused me a lot of stress. I was recommended by my physician to use a CPAP machine, for which I contacted Breathecare. I feel privileged that I got associated with Sutap and Raj of Breathecare. They suggested the ResMed brand, which was promptly delivered to my residence. They took all the trouble to familiarise me with the CPAP and its nuances. I did not for once feel that this was a new process I was getting into. They were extremely caring and knowledgeable and briefed me comprehensively on the usage of the machine. I also got to select a nasal mask, which is very compatible with my requirements and from day one I have been able to use it effectively. By the way I retired from ITC Ltd as their Chief Risk Officer some years back and the entire process of selection and usage of the equipment was redolent of the methods I had learnt in ITC for identifying, assessing and managing risks.
